The ongoing war between Israel and Hamas/Palestine has raised grave concerns over the very survival of the Palestinian nation. It is an asymmetrical conflict—Israel, backed by the might of the United States and NATO, faces little opposition of equal force, while few nations, including those with Muslim majorities, are willing or able to intervene directly on behalf of Palestine. As a result, day by day, innocent lives are lost—from children to the elderly—raising fears that the Palestinian people may eventually face extinction.
To this day, there has been no sincere initiative or effective action from the international community—including the United Nations and other global institutions—to stop the violence and ensure justice. Meanwhile, the oppression of Palestinians continues unabated.
In response, and moved by compassion and a sense of moral responsibility, the people of Indonesia—home to the world’s largest Muslim population and blessed with over 17,000 islands—wish to offer a monumental act of solidarity for the sake of humanity, justice, and global peace. We propose an invitation: a Hijrah to Indonesia.
We, the Indonesian people, propose to hold a national referendum to seek the consent of our citizens to dedicate one of our islands to the Palestinian people—a new land where they may rebuild their nation in peace and dignity. If the Indonesian people agree, we believe that many other countries and humanitarian organizations will step forward to offer support: funding the relocation, constructing infrastructure, and building a functioning, sovereign state.
With the support of world-class construction capabilities, such as those from China, it is conceivable that within one year, a new homeland could rise. Financial resources will undoubtedly pour in from every corner of the globe in the name of justice and humanity, ensuring that the Indonesian government will not bear the financial burden alone.
What then, one might ask, of Gaza and the remaining Palestinian territories? Let Israel annex them if that is the price to save an entire nation from annihilation. And what of Al-Aqsa Mosque? Who will protect it?
Let us remember the story of Abraha, the Abyssinian king, who marched with his mighty army of elephants to destroy the Kaaba. When he reached the outskirts of Mecca, he seized the property and livestock of its people. There, Abdul Muttalib, the grandfather of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), approached Abraha—not to negotiate the fate of the Kaaba, but to request the return of his confiscated camels.
Perplexed, Abraha asked, “You are the leader of Mecca, and yet you concern yourself with camels while we are here to destroy your sacred house?” Abdul Muttalib replied with quiet conviction: “The camels belong to me, and I am their guardian. The Kaaba belongs to God, and He will protect it.”
True to his words, divine intervention came. Flocks of birds—Ababil—rained down burning stones upon Abraha’s army, destroying them utterly. The Kaaba was saved—not by human hands, but by divine decree.
So too shall it be with Al-Aqsa. If Israel dares to violate what is sacred, the wrath of God will not remain silent.
If God wills, this vision can become reality. And should it come to pass, Indonesia—its leaders, its government, and its people—will be forever remembered in golden letters in the annals of human history as the pioneers of peace, the champions of justice, and the defenders of humanity.
May this message reach the hearts and minds of those who still possess a conscience, especially the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. H. Prabowo Subianto. Aameen.
