Jakarta-FusilatNews – Dear President of the United States, we, the people of Indonesia, express our deepest condolences for the tragic wildfires currently devastating Los Angeles. The destruction of homes, lives lost, and the unimaginable suffering you are facing is heartbreaking. We understand how overwhelming it must be to battle nature’s fury, a force that cannot be stopped, only endured. As you cope with the calamity in your land, we, too, feel sorrow for the victims, because we know that natural disasters are merciless, and sometimes, all we can do is watch helplessly as everything is torn apart.
However, President, may I ask you to take a moment for deeper reflection. While the disaster in your country is truly tragic, I urge you to look beyond it, to a place far removed from the comforts of your land, where suffering never ceases. In Palestine, innocent lives are shattered by violence and injustice year after year. Their homes are demolished, lives are lost, and their land is reduced to a battlefield, all because of human decisions. Unlike the fires in Los Angeles, the devastation in Palestine is not caused by nature’s hand but by the deliberate actions of men. For years, people in Indonesia, too, have been deeply moved by the relentless suffering of the Palestinian people—seeing children who should have been playing, lying lifeless; mothers who have lost their children; fathers who can no longer protect their families.
We cannot turn a blind eye to this. While we mourn the destruction in your country, there is no excuse for forgetting or ignoring the much deeper, longer-lasting suffering in Palestine. We, the people of Indonesia, do not only condemn the violence, we demand justice, freedom, and human rights for those who have been oppressed for so long. We implore you, President, not to close your eyes or ears to this suffering. I want you to feel what it’s like to live under the weight of injustice, to understand how cruel it is to see a world destroyed not by natural disasters, but by political decisions that cause the bloodshed of innocents.
The time has come for the world to stop siding with oppressors and start standing for the rights of the oppressed. Let us not be passive in the face of injustice, as we often are in natural calamities. We can change the course of human suffering if we act with compassion and fairness. Palestine’s people do not only need our sympathy from afar—they need action, they need justice.
Please, do not let your humanity wither in the silence of indifference. As a world, we can help rebuild what nature has broken. But when it comes to human suffering, we must have the power to right wrongs, to bring justice where there is none. The Palestinian people need tangible justice, not empty promises.
Let your heart be moved by their plight. This world needs justice, not just words, and the suffering of others cannot be ignored any longer. Together, let us strive to create a world where humanity and justice are more than ideals, but realities that bring true change. Do not turn away from those who are crying out for help, because their pain is a mirror to all of us.
We hope this reflection opens your heart and reminds all of us that human suffering, wherever it may be, must be our shared concern.
